Teen SpiriT coming to Listowel
photographs of Teen SpriT in rehearsal by Mary Fagan
Listowel is the focal point for teenagers from all over North Kerry for the latest Teen SpiriT gathering.
North Kerry has its own Teen SpiriT Concert scheduled for
Wednesday March 20th at 8.00 pm in St. Mary’s Church, Listowel.
Over 30 young people are gathering weekly in St Patricks Hall from secondary schools all over North Kerry to sing and dance a mixture of good modern music and songs of praise.
Teen SpiriT began in Killarney with Noel O Sullivan and his team and this team has travelled to Listowel to get the North Kerry Teen SpiriT group off the ground.
Mark the date into your diary as this concert is not to be missed!
This is a good story. It has a long lost letter and a Kerry footballing great in it.
Goats in a charity shop
This photo in The Journal provoked some very good captions, e.g.
Shopping with my Nanny.
They have nothing in my size.
You can’t take the kids anywhere.
Those leaves look tasty.
There’s a goat in the shop? You got to be kidding!
These photos from Bord na Mona Heartland highlight the perils of taking machinery onto boggy land.
This artefact, a letter from 1940, confirms that there were air raid shelters under shops in Dublin during WW2.

Another episode in the story that will not go away
From Julia Galvin:
Here’s something that I must add to further endorse my belief that it is indeed Maria Goretti and not a ‘post 1961 Rebranded’ Philomena! Philomena is depicted with Not only the ‘Palm of Martyrdom’ but also with a Whip, arrows and anchor plus a wreath of flowers in her hair.http://en.m.wikipedia.org/
The similar ‘back story’ may have easily lead to the confusion…! Needless to say I bet young Phil and Maria G are great old buddies in the ‘next world’ .”
