“A second edition copy of a book about Listowel fetched over €500 at auction today. The book ‘Listowel and its Vicinity’ by Fr. J. Anthony Gaughan was published in 1973 by Mercier Press in Cork. It was among 800 books which belonged to Eleanor Scanlon who died earlier this year and was closely associated with Writers Week. Her collection is being auctioned at the Kerry Auction House at the moment. The copy was one of 500 printed in the second edition and was signed by the author. The first edition ran to 1,000 copies. The estimated price was between €400 and €500 and the book was sold for €540”
